Dr. Eric E. Wegener

Eric E. Wegener, MD, is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. In addition to performing plastic surgical procedures for trauma, congenital abnormalities, and oncology reconstruction, Dr. Wegener has quickly earned a strong reputation for his work in hand and wrist abnormalities, as well as aesthetic surgery, including breast augmentation, reduction and reconstruction.

Dr. Wegener received his Doctorate of Medicine for University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He performed a Surgical Residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he also completed a Fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery. He completed his Residency in Plastic Surgery at Summa Health Systems in Akron, OH.

At the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Dr. Wegener has an appointment as Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery. He also received an appointment as a Clinical Instructor of Surgery at the Northeast Ohio University College of Medicine.

Dr. Wegener is a member of several of the medical profession’s most respected and prestigious organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, American Association of Hand Surgery, American Society of Peripheral Nerve, American Medical Association, and Mississippi State Medical Association.
A frequent contributor the medical journals and publications, Dr. Wegener has co-authored several medical articles and book chapters, one of the more recent being, “Principles of Internal Fixation in the Hand.”

Dr. Wegner’s hospital affiliations include St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital, River Oaks Hospital, River Oaks Woman’s Hospital, Rankin Medical Center, Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, University Hospital, Healthsouth Surgicare of Jackson, and Plastic Surgical Center of Mississippi.

Dr. Wegener and his wife, Connie, have three children, Katie, Eric, and Cecil. They attend Christ United Methodist Church.
